My Friend is Gone...

The last couple of days were really bad for Sony. She couldn't stand up, she wouldn't eat, wouldn't take her pills, she was having trouble breathing, and cried when I picked her up. I called our vet, and he and his wife came out to our home last night, and he put her to sleep.

I've shed so many tears, still think I hear her, and see her out of the corner of my eye, but she's not here. My son built a little wooden coffin for her, and she is cuddled in her favorite afghan. We will bury her right outside the screen porch as soon as the ground thaws out. She loved spending time on the porch watching the birds and deer.

Good-bye, Sony. You brought such joy into my life for 14 1/2 years. Thank you for your love, your trust, your friendship and company. Now rest in peace dear friend....

Sharon,
I am so sorry to hear about Sony. You will cry a lot; I know I did and sometimes still do from time to time for my dog. We had to put her to sleep at age fifteen. We to buried her in a wooden coffin my dad made and wrapped her in her favorite blanket. She was laid to rest under her favorite tree. It was very difficult and will take time - it is just like losing a family member. At least Sony is no longer suffering. She will always be with you. When Tody died, I found some comfort at this website...http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rainbowb.htm

Take care. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so, so sorry to hear this news, but I know you are taking comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering. We would never wish that for our beloved little friends. Those moments of imagining you can hear and see her are strange. I had those just after Trixie's death, and found them comforting and odd at the same time.

Be gentle with yourself and know that there are friends out here who send you our love and deep, deep sympathy in your loss.

Sorry to hear of this loss. It sounds like she was a great dog who had a long and happy life with a wonderful family. Hang in there.

It's so hard to loose someone so tiny. I know she's so thankful for you and how much you cared for her for so many years.

Sharon - it's Wednesday night, and I've been thinking of you since I read this news. I hope you are coping ok and feeling a little better. I know it's a long road, but having people around who understand how it feels was a great comfort to me when I lost Trixie, and I want to let you know I'm here, and will be checking in regularly. Blessings to you.
