Lutheran World Relief
I just finished putting two large bags together for Lutheran World Relief. They distribute layettes to mothers with new babies all over the world. I try to put together as many of the items they need at least once a year.
Each layette contains: 1 washcloth, 4 diapers, 1 blanket, 2 nightgowns, and 1 jacket or sweater
I am really proud of these little jackets I made. Used fabric from: bottom legs of some jeans I hand-embroidered a long time ago, fabric from two dresses I found at a rummage sale, and two fancy jackets also from a rummage sale! The trims also came from rummage sales.
Just because a new mother is too poor to buy things for her new baby, there is no reason that she shouldn't get cute things, right?
