Why? you ask?
Because I have spent the better part of three days trying, yes TRYING to do our income taxes!!!
I use Turbotax. It leads you through the entire process. Even an idiot could probably do it.
Then why the head hurt??? Because even though I keep track of every deduction possible all year long, we will still OWE the government again this year. And I'm not talking two digits here, folks. More like FOUR digits of money we will have to send in.
OK, we just don't have enough deducted from our retirement checks. It's not bad enough that our income was drastically reduced now that both of us are retired, but the government seems to want more of our money than we can afford to give them!!!
So.... we will have to opt for more withholding from our monthly checks... Whoever said that these were the 'golden years' probably had a rich uncle who left them a bundle. You certainly can't find any 'gold' with Social Security, Navy retirement and a teacher's retirement.
