I saw the eye dr. today. He says I do NOT have a detached retina (something I was afraid it might be!). However, there is a 'floater' in the eye, and there is nothing they can do about that. Dr. said that after a while, my brain will disregard it.
The flashing lights I see off to the side, is the lining of the vitreous humor pulling away from the retina in one small area. He says this usually corrects itself over time. He wants to see me again next week to see how it is healing (which can take up to 90 days!)
I don't know if it happened because Maynard stepped on my eye to wake me up last week. The dr. said it can happen with NO trauma sometimes.
So I feel relieved that it's not as serious as I thought it was, and a little sad that it will take so long to heal...

That's good that it's not serious...eyeball troubles are especially troublesome to people who write and read!
