The Bar Project...

My husband and son have spent many hours transforming one corner of our basement into a bar. It has been a dream of my husband to have his own bar. Now that he is retired, it was time to make that dream a reality.
Please note the sink to the left. The refrigerator is a used one they bought, and they will be putting a 'kegerater' kit in it with a keg of their favorite beer.

In the top of the bar, they inlaid several of the foreign coins Dale collected during his travels while in the Navy. They also inlaid two painted saw blades he received as gifts.

I think they did a beautiful job! The top of the bar has been sanded till it is as smooth as glass. Then layers and layers of poly resin, also sanded and sanded... Lots of work!

That is a ton of work and it looks beautiful! I especially love the sentimental touch of using his coins. VERY clever, and I bet it was quite a job inlaying them correctly.

A job well done, boys!

Haven't chatted in forever, Sharon. Thought I'd stop in, and I see something amazing. I'm a huge fan of this sort of artistic carpentry. Something I'd like to get into myself someday. My dad is kind of a master, but I've never found the time to learn a lot of it from him.

Perhaps I will, soon.
