Thank you so much

Thank you all for the birthday greetings. At my age I suppose I shouldn't be expecting many people to 'note' the day. But... hitting the advanced age of 65 is a little bit more significant than any other age.

At 65 a person is considered officially a 'senior citizen', eligible for Medicare for one thing, and many corporations and businesses expect people to 'retire' at this age.

The body is changing, hair is either falling out or turning gray. A large percentage of 'seniors' need enhancements to their existing eye wear, I have been wearing trifocals for some time now.
Joints become stiff, sore, and sometimes actually 'creak'! (next month I will be having a total knee replacement)

You find yourself wondering about your worth to your family, and society in general.

I have been trying to continue to be a worthwhile person to my family and society by-
  • Keeping our home clean, laundry done, nutritious meals prepared, bills paid, dogs fed and groomed, and doing what I can to keep up the yard and flower beds
  • Going back to college at BSU
  • Continuing my home-sewing business
  • Making quilts for 'Project Linus'
  • Selling items on Ebay
  • Continuing to edit books for 'Seeing Hands'
  • Becoming a 'Foster Grandparent' at the Walker elementary school
  • Teaching two Community Education classes (one in blogging and one in making a newsletter). One the end of Sept. the other in Nov.
  • And keeping up with reading blogs and posting to mine.
  • Take a short nap each afternoon (This has become a MUST!)
In other words, I don't FEEL old, at least most days...

Happy Birthday, SHARON! Oy! I need to visit more often. And seriously, I can't BELIEVE you were questioning your importance to your family and society in general...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Seriously. We love you. And please. Sixty-five is not old. Give it another twenty years and then maybe you'll have a reason to say that.
