I've Been Tagged!

Natasha tagged me.

Start with eight random facts/habits about yourself. Tag eight more people to blog their own eight things.

1. I am terrified of flying. When my husband received orders that his next duty station would be Guantanamo Bay, Cuba I thought 'what an adventure!' I had to wait 6 months to join him because of limited housing on the Base. So I left Minnesota in January (-15 degrees), flew from Mpls to Washington, D.C., then a 'puddle jumper' to Norfolk, Va. where it was 40 above. The next day, a jet to Cuba where it was 90+. After two years there, we flew home for a 30 day visit, again three planes home, three more back. Then after another two years one flight to Norfolk where we picked up our car that had gone via a ship. Each flight required more medication... My very last flight was on a 'remodeled' C-54... a prop plane. We hit a thunderstorm off Cape Hatteras, and were bounced around the sky like a ping-pong ball. My husband reassured me that everything was OK. When we landed in Norfolk, he got down on his knees and KISSED the ground!!! Then he told me, 'I thought we were goners!' I will NEVER fly again!

2. I love being back in college, and also working on 'Crostic' word puzzles every day. I have a theory that if I keep using my mind on difficult things, maybe I won't get senile. My husband says it's too late... I love him anyway.

3. Our two children are adopted. They are the best thing that ever happened to me (after falling in love with my hubby) They were each just 7 weeks old when they joined our family, our son in 1974 and our daughter in 1979.

4. My mother told everyone who would listen, "Sharon was BORN to be a teacher." I have been in school as a student, or teaching school, or subbing as a teacher every school year since I was five years old. (I'm now 64 in case anyone is keeping track) So my 'body clock' is set permanently on 'School Time'. This can be annoying to some people...

5. I love to sew. My great-grandmother was a professional seamstress, my mother sewed many of my clothes till I was in college, my highschool Home Ec. teacher taught me SO much about sewing then I began to sew more for myself. I now have a home sewing business which nets me an average of $400 a month. I won't get rich, but it is very satisfying.

6. I have been hospitalized 13 times, had surgery 10 of those times, and will have another this summer (knee replacement). Even though I always received wonderful care, I dread the thought of entering the hospital again...

7. I was a HUGE fan of Elvis in the 50's, the Beatles in the 60's, the Mammas and the Pappas in the 70's, but now my radios at home and in my car are always tuned to Minnesota Public Radio. Go figure.

8. Kemp's Frozen Yogurt, (Chocolate Caramel Brownie) has become my favorite food.

That's it. Now I'm tagging: Froyd, Aspen, Sue, Loralee, Blanca, Julie, Kuha, and Dr. Christensen.
