Arthur-Itis is Not My Friend!

There are many things that happen to a person to remind them that they are aging... One of the unkindest (is that a real word?) things that happen is arthritis.

It has progressed so relentlessly in my knees, that surgery, at least on the right one, is now inevitable. My dr. gave me another cortisone injection in the knee this morning. Let me just say this: when a dr. says "This will sting a little." What they really mean is: "Hold on to the table, this is going to hurt you SO badly when I push the needle in and bump the bone UNDER your knee cap, that you will actually yell out 'OOOHHH' and tears will pour out of your eyes, flowing down into your ears and hair.

Yes. It was that bad this time! I give my dr. credit though. He said he was sorry that it hurt so much, patted my shoulder, and gave me a tissue. Then he helped me down from the table and made sure I sat down in the chair for a while.

Soooo.... I have to make up my mind that I can't put off the knee-replacement surgery any longer.

The arthritis is also affecting my hands now. Joints of two fingers on my left hand are swelling and sore, and when I bend them, you can hear the 'crunch'!

Yes, getting older is great...

Sharon,I can relate to all those nasty pains.
The injections,the bend fingers.
My hands are getting so bad ,I am loosing my grip. Rings ,I can only look at ,not wear.
But ,on the bright side of this,I dont have to rely on the weatherman for the forecast,my joints will let me know when a change is coming and they are always right..Take care.
